HMRC updates the standard for agents
HMRC has published an updated standard for agents. This sits alongside the Institute’s own standards and Code of Ethics and, according to HMRC, “ensures a minimum standard has been set for all agents and in particular, those that are unaffiliated to any professional body.”
The updated standard includes requirements for providing advice on tax planning. It also makes clear that HMRC expects agents to “comply fully with money laundering regulations”.
