Compensation payments from personal injuries
Where a permanently incapacitated individual receives compensation payments for personal injuries and invests those monies, they may be exempt from certain taxes on the income and gains arising from those investments. The individual must be incapable of maintaining himself or herself. Revenue has provided additional guidance in its Tax and Duty Manual (Chapter 2) on what this means.
