Latest CSO figures report job growth and low unemployment rates in Ireland

According to figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) Labour Force Survey, employment in Ireland continues to expand with the number of people in employment increasing by 2.4% in the year to the third quarter of 2019. The Irish labour market is reported to be performing strongly, even with mounting uncertainty around Brexit. Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD, and Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection, Regina Doherty TD, have commended this increase as the figures are broadly in line with their respective departments’ goals for the next year. These will mainly focus on increased labour market participation, better skills acquisition, and higher capacity for innovation for women and unemployed citizens in particular.
