Autumn Budget cancelled
The 2019 Autumn Budget, which was due to take place on Wednesday 6 November, was cancelled due to the general election and the usual purdah period which applied beforehand.
This is likely to mean that, even if a new government is formed before Christmas, a Budget is not likely until January 2020. This would be just weeks before the next Brexit deadline of 31 January 2020. Scotland’s Budget 2020–2021 has also been delayed until after Christmas.
