Revenue Notice on Cash Payments
In the Interest of Your Safety and that of Revenue Staff Revenue “will no longer accept cash in payment of taxes and duties at public offices
Effective from 5 February 2007
You can pay using any of the following methods:
- On line via ROS (www.revenue.ie)
- Bank draft made payable to “Revenue Commissioners”
- Money order made payable to “Revenue Commissioners”
- Laser debit card (subject to a limit of €1,500) (where available)
- For vehicle registration, unguaranteed cheques can be accepted from duly authorised motor dealers (TAN-holders)
- Unguaranteed cheques may also be accepted in payment from members of the public (unauthorised persons) subject to the following conditions:
- The payer's name, the name of the cheque and where applicable the name and owner of the vehicle being registered, must be the same.
- The payers PPSN must be written on the back of the cheque.
- Photographic proof of the payer's identity must be provided (e.g. passport, driver's licence.)
NOTE: Third Party cheques will not be accepted.
