Revenue eBrief No. 63/2007

New Service for Employers

On 30 November 2007 Revenue will launch a new telephone service providing a single point of contact dealing exclusively with all employer enquiries:

LoCall: 1890 25 45 65

The new service will be based in the Collector-General's Division, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

Main issue for Employers: Commencing new employees

Revenue's analysis of contacts from employers indicates that the issue that gives rise to the majority of contacts relates to commencing new employees in employment.

The launch of the New Employer Service has been timed to coincide with recent developments to the Revenue On-Line Service (ROS) that now provide an integrated range of services to employers in relation to PAYE/PRSI.

We have introduced new developments to ROS that will facilitate employers in completing a range tasks quickly and easily. ROS now enables employers – and their agents – to file the following forms online:

  • P45 (Part 1) – ceases an employment.
  • P45 (Part 3) – commences an employment for a new employee where a P45 (Part 3) from the previous employer is provided.
  • P 46 – commences an employment for a new employee where a P45 (Part 3) from the previous employer is not provided.

While local Revenue District offices will continue to process paper versions of Forms P45 and P46, ROS provides the most efficient service and the quickest turnaround times.
