From Monday 27 November 2006, Stamp Taxes will be piloting a process of telephoning customers to clarify incomplete or contradictory information on SDLT Returns.

This process is in place of issuing letters asking for this information (SDLT8s). It is envisaged that this proactive approach will mean that customers get their land transaction certificates quicker.

After 4 weeks HMRC will evaluate the exercise and, after further consultation, decide whether or not to implement the process.
