Revenue Annual Report 2007
Net tax receipts of over €47.5 billion were collected in 2007. Special investigations yielded a total of €132million and the number of transactions on ROS rose by 38%.
Josephine Feehily publishes her first Annual Report as Chairman of The Revenue Commissioners noting that “Our fundamental aim, in all that we do, is to make it easy for people who want to do business with us and to make it difficult for those who don't”.
Despite a €2 billion increase in net receipts compared with the corresponding figure for 2006, the receipts were below the Budget estimate by €1.7 billion. This is the first time in five years that tax receipts have fallen short of the Budget estimate. Factors such as the falloff in the construction industry and reduced consumer spending were noted as the reasons for the shortfall.
