CCAB-I received further correspondence last month from Revenue on the conduct of the Contractors Project. The letter notes delays in concluding cases, this may be partly explained by the fact that Revenue departed from the normal procedures in the Audit Code of Practice in the conduct of this project. The letter also promises “responses as a matter of urgency” by Revenue to outstanding correspondence, while threatening assessments based on the disallowance of all expenses claimed where the taxpayer has not replied to an initial Revenue request for information. CCAB-I has already engaged with Revenue to emphasise that any outstanding items must be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
