Finance (Tax Appeals) Bill 2015

The Finance (Tax Appeals) Bill 2015 is published. Some of the comments and concerns expressed by the CCAB-I in written submissions and in attendance before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, are reflected in changes to the Bill from the Heads of Bill.

The Bill provides for the establishment of a new body called the Tax Appeals Commission and reform of the appeals process. We will be analysing the Bill and making any necessary representations. We will keep you updated in Chartered Accountants Tax News.

You can read the CCAB-I submission to the consultation on the reform of the Appeal System for Tax Matters in the February 2014 issue of tax.point or on TaxSource Total. We also covered in the February 2014 issue of tax.point Revenue’s published response to the consultation. Early this year Brian Keegan, Director of Taxation, addressed the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform representing CCAB-I in the debate on the Finance (Tax Appeals Commission) Bill. The opening statement can be read on our website.

The Bill (as initiated) and explanatory notes are available on the Oireachtas website.
