Revenue to target White Collar activity
At an Audit Subcommittee meeting of the Tax Administration Liaison Committee, Revenue set out its current priorities for compliance interventions, including the targeting of white collar non-compliance.
According to Revenue, it will continue its focus on shadow economy activity including the targeting of ‘white collar’ non-compliance and the use of third party data to detect non-compliance. Tax compliance in the construction sector also remains a focus for Revenue and in particular the VAT reverse charge as it applies in that sector. Another focus is determining the correct status – employed or self-employed – of individuals.
Revenue highlighted a facility on its website (go to www.revenue.ie – Business & Self-Assessment – Shadow-economy/reporting) through which reports of tax evasion/shadow economy activity may be made.
