Tax revenues continue to rise in most Member States, according to Commission study on taxation trends

Tax revenues are continuing to rise in most EU Member States, according to a recent study published by the European Commission. The 2016 edition of the Taxation Trends report contains a detailed statistical and economic analysis of the tax systems of the 28 Member States of the European Union, plus Iceland and Norway which are members of the European Economic Area.

The study shows that Ireland has the second highest share of direct taxes to total tax revenues (with Denmark having highest share of 67.4 %). The United Kingdom is in fourth place with its shares of direct taxes to total tax revenues at 42.3%.
